Let’s say you followed my advice and graduated college without student loans. You don’t want to go straight into the workforce and you aren’t forced to since you don’t have any student loans. If you aren’t planning on going to work right away, what are your other options?
Graduating college without student loans can be amazing! You could take a gap year, travel, nanny, volunteer, get a part-time job, start your own business, or teach English abroad.
I do not at all encourage you to go into debt to do any of this, because that would be very counterproductive, but all of these ideas would allow you to take a break between college and working full time.
Take A Gap Year
Taking a gap year can be a thrilling experience. You can spend time with friends and family. You can dream about what you really want to be doing five years from now. You could help somebody who is in need, or pick something else to do. I highly suggest working at least a part time job while you are in your gap year so that you can get started on the right foot.
Traveling is a dream for many people! The problem is that as soon as you start working in corporate America, you will only have so much time off each year.
During your gap year, you could take a roadtrip across America, you could take a fight over to Europe and find yourself, go over to Asia and learn what their culture is like, or just travel anywhere you want!
Using an app like Fiverr will allow you to make some money while you are abroad. You could proofread for some companies, you could be a digital assistant living, or a marketing expert. That is just one of the options for you though.
You can check out wwoof.org to find out how you can travel for free! There are people around the world who are on this website looking for somebody to work on their farm in exchange for free housing and food. This is a great way to see the world for free so why not take a look at this!
If you recently graduated from college without student loans, then you are off to a great start in life. Nannying is a way to make awesome money while having a somewhat flexible schedule.
It is a great way to learn about kids, make money, and enjoy life. You can check out this website to learn about Nannying jobs in your area.
If you graduated but don’t want to go straight into the workforce and instead want to see the difference that you can make in the world, then consider volunteering! There are many shelters, non-profits, food banks, and different organizations that are always looking for volunteers to come help them out with different events that they have coming up.
You can check out this website to find some of the best volunteering opportunities in your area. Whether you are looking to volunteer for a local 5K, hand out food to less fortunate people, or help organize an event there is an opportunity for you!
The year after graduation is a great chance to volunteer for local organizations. This is one of the few times in your life when you will be able to volunteer as much time as you want, so you should take full advantage of this opportunity! It gives you a chance to feel really good about whatever it is that you are doing. If you want to gain experience in your future field, then find an organization looking for volunteers to do the job that you want to do!
Get a Part-Time Job
I suggest getting a part-time job no matter which of these options you pick. This will help you to make money and get started saving some money. It is always important to have some income just in case you ever need it.
You could work for Fiverr as I mentioned above, you could go work at a retail store, or do something that you believe helps other people! I mentioned that you could volunteer at local organizations, but you could also likely get hired part-time instead.
There are many companies looking to hire part-time workers. Other than Fiverr, there are apps like DoorDash, Rover, Uber, and Lyft that all allow you to make some money before you start working a normal full-time job. If you look hard, you can find great paying jobs that you may be able to enjoy.
Start Your Own Business
If while you were in college you were dreaming of starting your own business, then this would be the perfect time to do it. I’m not telling you to go into debt to do it, but you have plenty of time to focus on doing everything perfectly.
Whether you are looking to start your own online business, marketing agency, boutique, podcast, or something else do your research, look at your competition, and figure out exactly how much it will cost to start this business.
Starting your own business could land you a substantial amount of money if you do it correctly. Take your time and make sure you do it right. This could potentially be your future!
Teach English Online
Teaching English to foreign children has become somewhat of a phenomenon over the past few years. There are all different websites that allow you to work teaching kids English. You don’t need to be certified in teaching or have any real experience.
This job apparently pays really well! You don’t need any experience to do this. You just need to have the time, patience, and the passion to help little kids learn our language. You may have to take a quick class about teaching, but it is worth the time. Check it out today!
To Sum It Up
If you graduated from college without student loans, then you did great! You are used to hard work and now is your time to take a little break. If you want to take a gap year, travel, nanny, volunteer, get a part-time job, start your own business, or teach English abroad then now is your chance!
I reviewed exactly how to do most of the things that you could do if you graduated debt free. There are many options for you! I recommend working at least a part-time job after you graduate, because it allows you to make at least some money.
