Working every working day per year is much less common than having 2 weeks vacation but I wanted to add this is for those of you who do have to work a full 52 weeks per year at $25 per hour.

There are a total of 2,080 working hours per year because 40 hours per week times 52 weeks per year equals 2,080 working hours.  When we multiple 2,080 x $25, you would be making $52,000.  Unfortunately there are no shortcuts to getting this number.  You would just have to remember that there are 2,080 hours in a year.

How to Increase Your Hourly Income

  1. Ask for a raise!  Asking for a raise is likely the easiest way to increase your hourly income.  To actually ask for a raise, I suggest writing down everything that you have done to improve the organization.  Some of these things can be showing up to work early every day, changing a process to make it easier for a task to be completed, or just simply being as helpful as possible.
  2. Work more hours.  If you are an hourly employee, ask your employer if they would let you work more hours.  If they say yes then that is awesome! If they say no, try to find a 2nd job.  While it would be awesome, if they let you work more hours, there are other options like getting a 2nd job.
  3. Go back to school.  Going back to school does not guarantee that you will make more money, but it can definitely be helpful! Let’s say you only graduated from highschool.  Obtaining your associates or bachelor’s degree can make you a lot more marketable to some companies.  Just make sure you aren’t taking out student loans.
  4. Complete certifications.  This idea is very similar to the last one, but it may be easier and cheaper to do.  Most careers have certifications that you are able to obtain.  For example, in the marketing field, you can obtain a certification in social media marketing, content marketing, or digital marketing.  All of these certifications make you more marketable to marketing agencies and companies with a marketing department.
  5. Find a new job.  This is probably the 2nd easiest way to make some extra money every year, month, or week.  If you are able to find a job that makes $1 per hour more than you are currently making, you will make an extra $160 per month! Who doesn’t want that?
